Feature Interactions
System Restarts
An upgrade c auses a system restart: simplex systems p erform a Level-4 restart,
and d upl ex sys tems perf orm a Level -2 SPE-in terc hang e aft er the stand by i s
upgraded th rough a Level-4 restart.
Initcauses
Execu ting display initcauses shows the software upgrade and the system rese t
level.
Multi-User Contention
When this command is executing , all other maintenance command s are blocked.
Exceptions to these are most of the status or d isplay commands. All
administration commands are not blocked. It is the user’s responsibility to make
sure that no new translations are added between the last save translation
operation and the comp letion of the upgrade software command.
Recent Change History Log
The upgrade software command will not be logged for both simplex and duplex
systems. This is due to the clearing of mem ory during the level 4 reset.
Periodic and Scheduled Maintenance
Periodic and scheduled maintenance is suspended during the upgrade.
Error and Alarm Log
Error and alarm logs before the software up grade are lost.
Demand Busyout Objects
Maintenance objects that have been demand b usyout are released when the
processor reboots or interchan ges during the software upg rade. If the command
is cancelled b efore the actual reboot or interchang e starts, then all demand
busyout objects status are p reserved.
Data Consistency between SPEs
Data consistency alarms are g enerated if the software in the active and standby
SPE are not consistent.
