PR-MAINT (Maintenance Processor)
NOTE:
For systems with a TN790 Processor Circuit Pack use maintenance obje ct
PR-MAINT (Maintenance Processor TN790 RISC Systems).
The TN786B Processor circuit pack is c omprised of the 80386 Processor
(PROCR), the Maintenance Processor (PR-MAINT), and the Memory (MEMORY).
On the TN786B circuit pack, PR-MAINT is responsibl e for monitoring the sanity of
the 80386 Processor.
The major difference between the two circ uit packs is that on the TN786B circ uit
pack, there is no tape for PR-MAINT to control and Memory is on the circuit p ack.
The rest of the functionality is the same. On both ci rcuit packs, PR-MAINT
contains the hardware required f or controlling the environmental co nditions. The
Maintenance/Tape Processor provides the serial interfaces for the ad ministration
terminal and CDR ports. The Maintenance/ Tape Processor also provides the
communications interfac e to INADS for alarm reporting and remote maintenanc e
capability.
!WARNING:

I

f the TN786B circuit pack must b e replaced, and if there is a blank in the

Expansion Memory circuit pa ck slot (that is, in the slot immediately to th e

right of the TN786B circuit pac k), remove the blank before removing the

circuit pack. Otherwise, the circuit pac k and/or the two connec tors that are

used to connect the Expansi on Memory circuit pac k (if available) might

become damaged.
