To force the system to send a restart message to all circuit p acks on a network,
try one of the following methods d epending on the c ircumstances:
NOTE:
A circuit pac k functioning normally (that is, not in the reset state) ig nores
the restart message.
Procedure 1 (Nondestructive)
Execute the Idle Time Slot Test (#294) by issuing the command test tdm P when
the control channel is on the same TDM Bus as it was when the c ircuit pack
entered the reset state. If using this method is not feasible, try the other
procedures in this sec tion.
Procedure 2 (Nondestructive)
if you are at the site: Reseat the circuit pac k. This action causes the circuit pac k
that was in the reset state to begin func tioning on the
current
Control Channel
bus.
Procedure 2 (Nondestructive)
Execute the Idle Time Slot Test (#294) by issuing the command test tdm P when
the control channel is on the same TDM Bus as it was when the c ircuit pack
entered the reset state. If using this method is not feasible, try the other
procedures in the sec tion.
Procedure 3 (Destructive)
Reset the port network that contains the c ircuit pack that is in the reset state.
When a network is reset, two restart messages, one on the control c hannel of
each TDM Bus, are sent to each circ uit pack on the network. Executing the reset
system L command (where L=2, 3, 4, or 5) resets all networks in the system.
!WARNING:

The reset system c ommand disrupts all c alls in the system.

Procedure 4 (Destructive)
Execute the recycle carrier PC command where P is the Port Network Number
of the network containing the c ircuit pack and C is the d esignation of the carrier
containing the circuit pack.
!WARNING:

This command removes power and returns power to the designated

Medium cabinet p ort carrier. Thus, any other circuit p acks on this carrier is

also temporarily taken out-of-servic e.
