Maintenance Objects

2. If a customer has announcements on the Announcement circuit pack,
then announcements must be saved on the system tape to ensure
that they are not lost. This should be done as soon as the
announcements are recorded on the circuit pac k (or whenever they are
changed), assuming that the pack is in p roper working order (see Note).
NOTE:
Unlik e tran slati ons, a nnou ncem ents a re NEVER au tomat ica lly sa ved
to the memory card.
3. The save announcements command replaces the announcement file on
the card with the Announcement c ircuit pack sp eech memory. Care must
be taken not to mistakenly enter this c ommand, thereby destroying a valid
file on tape.
4. The restore announcements command replaces the Announcemen t
circuit pack sp eech memory with the announc ement file on the card. Care
must be taken not to mistakenly enter this comm and, thereby destroying
valid speech memor y (especially if the c ard does not have a valid
announcement file on it).
5. Whenever the Announcement circuit p ack is replaced , announcements
must always be re-recorded or d ownloaded to the new c ircuit pack.
Otherwise, call processing is not able to use the circ uit pack.
6. If announcement speech memory is corrupted, announcements should
not be saved, that is, if the Announcement Checksum Test (#209) fails or
if the speech sounds c orrupted on pl ayback. This can ruin a go od
announcement file and potent ially cause errors/alarms on any circ uit pack
to which the new file is download ed. However, if the customer d oes not
have a valid announcement file, then ann ouncements can be save d in an
effort to try to retain some of them (all of the announc ements recorded may
not be corrupted ).
7. Although Announcement Port 5 and Data Line Circuit Port 17 on the
Announcement circuit p ack are logically two sep arate ports, they are
physically the same por t. Therefore, if one of the ports is in use, the other
one will be busy. Also, if Announcement Port 5 is out-of-servic e, the Data
Line Circuit Port is taken out-of-service. However, if the Data Li ne Circuit
Port is out-of-service, the Announcement Port remains in-servic e.
Announcement Administration
A brief descrip tion of the integrated announc ement administration is given he re
to aid in the troubleshooting of the Announcement circuit p ack and its por ts. In
many cases, it is necessary to rec ord, play back , and/or delete announcements
to resolve an alarm. It may also be necessary to save and restore
announcements as part of the maintenanc e procedures. For a co mplete
description of integ rated announcement ad ministration, please refer to
