set expansion-interface command when investigating an EPN
Tone-Clock.) If the interchange attempt fails d ue to other errors,
resolve those problems first.
4. Interchange the Tone-Clock circuit pac ks using the set tone-clock
PC command. If the command succeeds, the interc hange which
previously failed has been ac complished and the problem has
been satisfactorily resolved . If it fails, proceed to the next st ep. (You
may want to proceed in any c ase to definitively test all relevant
components.)
5. Interchange the t/c selec tor using set expansion-interface if
investigating an EPN. If errors prevent this interchang e, resolve
them first.
6. Attempt again to interchang e Tone-Clocks with the set tone-clock
PC command.
If the Tone-Clock interchang e failed for both t/c selec tors:
Replace the standby Tone-Clock circ uit pack which could
not be interchanged into and return to this step. (See ‘‘How
to Replace a Tone-Clock Circuit Pack’’.) Test the new circuit
pack as follows:
a. Execute the set tone-clock PC command .
b. Execute a set expansion-interfac e, if this is an EPN
Tone-Clock.
c. Execute the set tone-clock PC command again.
If these commands succ essfully complete, the prob lem has
been resolved.
If these c ommands successfully c omplete, the problem has
been resolved.
If the Tone-Clock circ uit packs successf ully interchange
when o ne EXP-IN TF is act ive, b ut no t when the oth er one is:
The t/c-selector circuit p ack on the failing side is sus pect.
a. Replace the A carrier DUPINT or EXP-INTF board that is
active when the Tone-Clock interchange fails.
b. Make sure the new t/c selector is active and execute the set
tone-clock PC command.
If b oth Tone-Clocks can be interchanged , and interchanges
succeed when either t/c selector is active, the p roblem has
been resolved. If the prob lem persists after following the
above steps, follow normal esc alation procedures.
n. Error Type 3840This error is not service-affecting and c an be ignored. It
indicates that the circ uit pack has received a b ad control message from
the switch.
