■Packet Circuit Pack Maintenance
The operation of Packet Interface 2 affects the op eration and maintenance
of other circuit pac ks connected to the Packet b us. Affected app lications
include:
— BRI app lications
— Universal DS1 ap plications (UDS1) using ISDN/PRI service
— C-LAN app lications
— ASAI app lications
Some errors of Packet circuit packs may req uire examination of the Packet
Interface operating status. To obtain this information, examine the Error
and Alarm Logs for PKT-INT entries. Also issue the status
packet-interface command to de termine the service state of the Packet
Interfaces (for example, in-servic e/out-of-service) and informatio n about
the total number of Packet Interface links assigned to a Packet Interface
instance. In general, if all links for Pack et Interface 2 are shown in the
Failed Links
category, there may be a fault on the Packet Interfac e or on
the Packet Bus that caused all links to g o down. If only a small percentage
of the links are shown as
Failed Links
, then the Packet Interface is
probably not the source of the problem. For example, disc onnecting the
cord to a BRI set causes three link failures. Refer to Chapter 2,
‘‘Maintenance Commands’’ for more information on th e status
packet-interface command.
For the case where not all links are in the
Failed Links
category, examine
the alarm log and error log for failures of the following circuit p ack types
and follow the repair proc edures for those circuit pac ks before
considering rep lacing the TN798 Processor circuit p ack.
■ISDN-BRI Line circuit packs, por ts, and stations (BRI-BD,
BRI-PORT, BRI-SET, ATT-PORT, ATT-ADJ)
■ISDN-BRI Trunk circuit pack and ports (TBRI-BD, TBRI-PT)
■Universal DS1 circuit packs and ports (UDS1-BD, TIE-DS1)
■DS1 Interface circuit pac ks and ports (DS1-BD, TIE-DS1)
■C-LAN circuit packs and ports (CLAN-BD, RSCL-PT, PPP-PT,
ETH-PT)
■ASAI circuit packs and ports (ASAI-BD, ASAI-PT, ASAI-ADJ,
ASAI-EPT, LGATE-BD, LGATE-PT, LGATE-AJ, ATTE-PT, ATTE-AJ,
MAPD-BD)
