NOTE:
Refer to ‘‘Troubleshooting Multimedia Call Handling ( MMCH)’’ in Chapter 1,
‘‘Maintenance for csi systems’’ for MMCH troub leshooting information.
The Multimedia Interface Circuit Pack p rovides a number of H.221 p rotocol
terminations for bit streams received from the TDM bus. The Multimedia Interface
demultiplexes the H.221 bi t stream (audio, video, data, control, and indic ation
signals) and transmits the b it streams onto the TDM bus to be proc essed by the
appropriate circ uit packs.
Each Multimedia Interface Circ uit Pack contains 32 separately ma intained
“ports,” more c ommonly referred to as "resources." MMI-PT represents one of
these 32 resources. At system boot or when the c ircuit pack is inserte d, 32
resources are inserted into the system.
The MMI circuit pack c ontains 4 Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) which manage
the 32 resources. These resources are directly map ped to DSPs:
All 8 resources that the circuit pac k controls may be plac ed out of service by the
failure of one of these DSPs.
