There are two types of Signaling Groups:

■Facility Associated Signaling (FAS) (supported by all countr y protocols)

■Non-Facility Associated Signaling (NFAS) (supported by c ountry protocol

1 only)

In an FAS Signaling Group, the 24th port of the DS1 Interface circuit pac k (for 24

channel interfaces) or the 16th p ort of the DS1 Interface circuit p ack (for 32

channel interfaces) is always the D-c hannel that carries signaling information for

the other ports (B-channels) on the c ircuit pack. If a Packet Control c ircuit pack is

used then only the TN464C or later circuit p ack may be used.
