XXX-BD (Common Port Circuit Pack)
The Common Port Circuit Pack Maintenance is a set of c ommon tests used by all
the circuit packs with the generic hardware that inter faces with the TDM bus.
Circuit packs inc luded in this categ ory are listed on the following pages.
Notes:
a. All circuit pack suffixes (B,C, D, etc.) are also suppor ted by the XXX-BD
(Common Port Circuit Pack) Maintenance doc umentation.
b. The XXX-BD d esig nati on is also u sed in th e SAT disp lay in th e cas e whe re
a reset board command is issued to a circui t pack type whic h is in
conflict to the actual c ircuit pack typ e administered for that slot or when a
reset board command is issued to an empty circuit p ack slot.
When any of the Common Port Circuit Packs (except the TN754 Dig ital Line and
TN758 Pooled Modem circuit pac ks) are physically removed from the backplane,
no alarm is logged for approximately 11 minutes. In the c ase of the Digital Line
and Pooled Modem circ uit packs, app roximately 21 minutes elapse b efore an
alarm is logged. When a c ircuit pack that has b een removed is alarmed, the
alarm type is minor and is classified as an on-board alarm. The time delay
permits maintenance ac tivity to be performed without triggering an additional
alarm. An alarm is logged only against a Common Port Circuit Pack on
which ports have been administered. See the next Note.
NOTE:
In a heavily loaded system, the interv al between the removal of a Common
Port Circuit Pack and the logg ing of the alarm may be several min utes
longer.
