System Backup
System translations can be restored by u sing the data on the system or on the
backup translation c ard.

Save Translation

To ensure that the translation card contains the most recent cop y of the
translation data, the system can automatic ally save the translation data onto the
translation card every 24 hours. Automatic daily backup of the system translation
data is controlled b y an entry in the system parameters that d efaults to “daily.”
If many translation data chang es are made, it is recommended that you save the
translation data using the save translation command. This action saves the new
changes to the translation card without having to wait for the next automatic daily
translation backup.
NOTE:
The save translation c ommand blocks all maintenance command s.
!CAUTION:

It is recommended that “ save translation” be p erformed after business

hours so that dial tone delays are not enc ountered.

!CAUTION:

Do not issue the “save translation” c ommand when alarm cond itions are

present.

Translation Card Backup

In case of a power failure, the system translations c an be restored using the
translation card. Translation data can b e saved during the d aily scheduled
maintenance. However, if the translation data c hanges frequently, translations
should be saved freq uently to ensure that the most up-to-date i nformation is kept.
Note that only one translation card is p rovided with the system. It is
recommended that the c ustomer purchase add itional translation cards to se rve
as backup or rep lacement. Translation cards should b e alternated period ically.
It is also recommended that b ackup cop ies of the translation data be ma de
weekly, or after many changes have been mad e to the translation data. This
minimizes the loss of recent translation data c hanges if the translation c ard in the
system becomes damaged.
