This test is also used to maintain the Lucent 120A1 CSU Module or th e 401A T1
Sync Spliltter, and the 402A or 403A E1 Synchronization Spllitter. The CSU
Module, when combined with the functionality provid ed by the TN464F circuit
pack, provides func tionality equivalent to an external stand -alone Lucent ESF T1
CSU. The combination of the TN464F and 120A1 CSU Module is known as an
Enhanced Integrated CSU (I-CSU).
The 401A T1 Synchronization Spllitter, when combined with the functionality
provided by th e TN464F circuit pack, allows an ATM switch to derive its tim ing
from a T1 connected to the UDS1 in the DEFINITY.
The 402A or 403A E1 Synchronization Spllitter, when combined with the
functionality provided by the TN464F circuit pack, allows an ATM switch to derive
its timing from an E1 connected to t he UDS1 in the DEFINITY.
If a TN464F circuit pack detec ts certain I-CSU/Sync Splitter hardware errors, it
will notify maintenance. When the maintenance sub system receives notification
of the I-CSU/Sync Splitter error, it will execute this Loss of Signal Inqui ry test. The
test, in addition to quer ying for a Loss Of Signal alarm cond ition, will also query
the TN464F board to confirm the I-CSU/Sync Splitter error. A Minor or Warning
alarm will be raised d epending on the severity of the I-CSU/Sync Splitter error.
The trunks on the board may be taken out of servic e if the I-CSU/Sync Splitter
error is deemed serious.
If a Loss Of Signal alarm and an I-CSU/Sync Splitter error co-exist, the Loss O f
Signal alarm condition will take p riority and the board and all trunks on the board
will be put in the out-of-service state. Errors will be logged, however, f or both.
When the maintenance subsystem receives notific ation that the I-CSU/Sync
Splitter hardware error condition no long er exists, maintenance will restore the
board and all trunks to their p revious service state if the alarm c an be cleared (no
other I-CSU/Sync Splitter errors or Loss Of Signal alarm exist).
