This section refers only to the HYB-LINE (Hybrid Line) maintenanc e that is
performed. Please note that the HYB-LINE (Hybrid Li ne) maintenance is closely
related to, and interacts with , the HYB-BD (Hybrid Line circ uit pack) maintenance
in some instances. Some of the results of maintenanc e testing of the Hybrid Line
may be affected b y the health of the Hybrid Line c ircuit pack. This interaction
should be kept in mind when investigating the c ause of reported Hyb rid Line
problems.
There are instances in this section where "service states" of a station are
mentioned. It is helpful to und erstand what is meant by the d ifferent service
states that may exist. An explanation of these servic e states follows:
Out-of-Service–The port, and thus the station, have been removed from
service. A busyout of a p ort causes it to be out-of-servic e.
Ready-for-Service–Once a port on the c ircuit pack has b een put into
service, the voice terminal must c ommunicate that it is present. The time
between these two events is the time when the terminal i s in the
ready-for-service state.
In-Service–Once the system has received a mes sage from the voice
terminal communicating that it is present, the station is put i nto the
in-service state. The terminal can also b e forced into the in-servic e state if
it goes off-hook while it is in the ready-for-serv ice state.
When the status station command has been run, and the status screen
appears, the status is reported as either out-of-service or in-servic e, which mean
exactly as stated in the ab ove list, or disconnect, which means the station is in
the ready-for-service state.
