Disabled Objects
All disabled ob jects retain their “disab led” status after a software up grade
according to the status recorded in the last save translation command.
Output
The following is the output from the upgrade software command and a
successful simplex upgrade.
Explanations and error recoveries to the ab ove steps follow:
INITIATING SOFTWARE
UPGRADE: The system is upgrading the software.
MEM-CARD CHECKSUM: If the card-mem checksum fails, the system reboots
without performing the upg rade. Retry the command with
another software card-mem.
REPROGRAMMING MTP: If the MTP programming fails, the M anager I will not be
functional anymore, meaning that the rest o f the upgrade
(if it occurs) will not be v isible and the MTP will not be
present to monitor the health of the proc essor. The only
recovery proced ure is to power down and p ower up the
system, since the presence of a software card-mem will
cause a software upgrad e.
ERASING MEMORY: The rest of the memory is being erased.
REPROGRAMM ING SPE: This sh ows th e stat us of th e rep rogr amming . A to tal of 7
Mbytes has to be repr ogrammed. If the reprog ramming
fails in the midst of upg rade, it will take the system into

SPE-dow n

mode. In this mode, the system tec hnician can
only reset the system or display alar ms. The system
should be reset and anothe r upgrade attempted due to
the detection of a software c ard-mem in the system.
