PKT-INT (Packet Interface)
The Packet Interface (PKT-INT) interfaces between the TN798 Processor circui t
pack and p acket endpoints (suc h as ISDN-BRI stations or ISDN-PRI trunks). Two
instances of PKT-INT are provided on the TN798 Processor circuit pack:
PKT-INT 1 (1A1) communicates through the TDM bus only. It provides
signaling for circ uit packs that can receive signaling p ackets over the
TDM bus, e.g., the TN767E DS1 Interface circuit pac k (for ISDN-PRI
applications) and the TN556C circuit pack (for ISDN-BRI applications).
PKT-INT 2 (1A2) communicates through the Packet bus only. It provid es
signaling only for circ uit packs that c an receive their signaling packets
over the Packet Bus, e.g., the TN464F UDS1 circuit pack and the TN556B
circuit pack
The TN798 Processor circuit pack is not eq uipped with a d irect interface to the
Packet Bus. In order to use the Packet Bus, PKT-INT 2 (1A2) connects via the
Processor circuit pac k’s TDM Bus interface to a spec ial

Bus Bridge

module on
the TN799 C-LAN circuit pack. That mod ule provides a Packet Bus interfac e on
one side and a TDM Bus interface on the other, and PKT-INT 2 is therefore able to
access the Packet Bus through it.
PKT-INT 2 is enabled only when the following cond itions are met:
The system contains at least one TN799 C-LAN circuit pac k, and
