Maintenance Commands
2-108list configuration software-version
2
Some things to note when using the list configuration software-version
command are:
1. For sim plex syste ms, th e fiel ds un der c olum n “SPE_B ar e alwa ys bl ank
and the optional Long qualifier is not part of the command lin e.
2. If the memory card contains a c ore dump file system, fields for the tap e or
memory card will contain coredump. This is b ecause in a coredump file
system, all files other than the coredump file are marked as invalid.
3. If for any reason, MSS cannot be read when the command is issued, the
string no tape or none for no memory card wi ll be placed in the
appropriate field s on the screen. This does not mean that the system
thinks there is no tape, only that the software was unable t o read the
appropriate information wh en requested.
4. If the command is issued using the
memory-resident
option, the fields on
the form associated with the tap e will contain the string n/a.
5. When the status of the update field is d isplayed, the following strings will
be used (for more information refer to step c of this list):
a. none in memory — no update has been ap plied to memory.
b. immediate partially applied — an error condition that is
valid only when an update that is in the process of being applied
fails. Check the validity of the up date file that was sent, and then
check the hardware error log for tape errors, and follow stand ard
maintenance proced ures.
c. all immediate applied deferred pending — a valid
update file was received by the switch, and a ll the immediate
sub-patches were ap plied. This state indic ates that there are
deferred sub-p atches in the update file, and a system reset of the
proper level has not occurred since the update file was received.
d. deferred partially applied — an error condition that is
valid only when a update t hat is in the process of being applied
fails. Check the validity of the up date file that was sent, and then
check the hardware error log for tape errors, and follow stand ard
maintenance proced ures.
e. entirely applied to memory — the update associated with
the memory-resident identifier has been completely applied to
memory.
