NOTE: When you set this option, the router accepts BGP prefixes only until the maximum configured value. After the maximum number is reached, the router drops any additional prefixes that it receives.

If you configure the neighbor maximum-prefixcommand and the neighbor receives more prefixes than the neighbor maximum-prefixcommand configuration allows, the neighbor goes down and the show ip bgp summary command displays (prfxd) in the State/PfxRcd column for that neighbor. The neighbor remains down until you enter the clear ip bgp command for the neighbor or the peer group to which the neighbor belongs or you enter the neighbor shutdown and neighbor no shutdown commands.

show ip bgp summary — displays the current BGP configuration.

neighbor password

Enable message digest 5 (MD5) authentication on the TCP connection between two neighbors.

To delete a password, use the no neighbor {ip-addresspeer-group- name} password command.
