Uninterruptible Power Supply
An external UPS provides a longer bac kup time than holdover batter ies and can
replace the batteries and battery charger. The unit connec ts from the AC power
source to a cabinet’s AC p ower cord. If AC power fails, the unit supplies its own
AC power to the cabinet.

In AC powered cabin ets, the power distribution unit (J58890CH-1), d istributes
170 to 264 VAC from a wall outlet to a set of BU3200A Battery Interface Units
(BIU). See Figure 9-20 and Figure 9-21.
