AC Power for AC-Powered Systems

DEFINITY systems support two different cabinet types: Multi-Carrier Cabinets
and Single-Carrier Cabinets. Single-Carrier C abinets are used only for EPNs.
Both cabinet types may be powered by either AC or DC power source.
Environmental maintenance differs acc ording to cabinet type and power sup ply.
!CAUTION:

Before powering down a c abinet or carrier that contains DEFINITY AUDIX

circuit packs (TN566), first p ower down the AUDIX unit to avoid damag ing

the AUDIX software. Instructions for powering d own this unit are in the

‘‘DEFINITY AUDIX S ystem P ower P r ocedures’’ in Chapter 5, ‘‘Alarms, Errors,

and Troubleshooting’’, on the circuit pac k, and in DEFINITY AUDIX

documentation.

Single-Carrier Cabinet Power Systems

Each Single-Carrier Cabinet has one power s upply that distributes DC power
and AC ringing voltag e to the circuit pac k slots in the cabinet.

AC Power Supply (WP-91153)

In an AC-powered cab inet, a single, plug-in, m ulti-output AC power supp ly is in
the power supply slot. A p ower cord, with a three-prong p lug on one end and an
appliance c onnector on the other end, co nnects the supply to a d edicated AC
power source. The inputs to the po wer supply can be (depending on list version):
120 VAC, 60 Hz, 15 Amp to 20 Amp; three wires in the power cord: one hot
wire, one neutral wire, and one ground wire
220 VAC or 240 VAC, 50 Hz, 10 Amp; three wires in the power cord: one
hot wire, one neutral wire, and one ground wire
The AC power supply produc es the following DC outputs: + 5 VDC, -5 VDC,
-48 VDC, +12 VDC, and a battery-char ging voltage. The DC outputs distribute
power on the cabinet b ackplane to the circ uit pack slots.
