reset spe-standby
reset spe-standby level# [tape]
This re sets t he sta ndb y SPE on a syste m wit h dup lic ated SPEs to a spe cifi ed
level. The command is increasing ly destructive as the reset level inc reases. On a
system with disk and tape d evices, the reset is executed using the boot imag e
stored on disk unless a reset of level 4 (reb oot) with the “tape” qualifier is
requested. During the reset, the stand by SPE is taken out of service for several
minutes. Reset status can be monitored with the status spe command.
During a reset of any level, memory shadow ing is turned off. After the reset
completes, memory shad owing is automatically restored an d a memory refresh
of the standby takes pl ace. The standby is not fully in servic e until the refresh is
complete. Reset spe-standby invokes initialization of the standb y in the same
fashion as low level maintenance. The reset level requested will not be escalated
by software. The level requested will always b e the level that is performed .
Any reset of the standby SPE turns off shadowing, leavi ng the standby SPE
unrefreshed. It may take several minutes before the stand by is available for
service.
