This test is also used to maintain the new Lucent 120A1 CSU Mod ule. This CSU
Module, when combined with the functionality provid ed by the TN464F circuit
pack, provides func tionality equivalent to an external stand -alone Lucent ESF T1
CSU. The combination of the TN464F and 120A1 CSU Module is known as an
Enhanced Integrated CSU (I-CSU).
If a TN464F circuit pack detec ts certain I-CSU hardware errors, it will notify
maintenance. When the maintenance subsyste m receives notification of the
I-CSU error, it will execute this Loss of Signal Inquiry test. The test, in add ition to
querying for a Loss Of Signal alar m condition, will also quer y the TN464F board
to confirm the I-CSU error. A Minor or Warning alarm will be raised depending on
the severity of the I-CSU error. The trunks on the board may be taken out o f
service if the I-CSU error is deemed serious.
If a Loss Of Signal alarm and an I-CSU error co-exist, the Loss Of Signal alar m
condition will take priority and the board and all trunks on th e board will be put in
the out-of-service state. Errors will be logg ed, however, for both.
When the maintenance subsystem receives notifi cation that the I-CSU hardware
error condition no longer exists , maintenance will restore the board and all trunks
to their previous service state if the alar m can be cleared (no other I-CSU errors
or Loss Of Signal alarm exist).
