Maintenance Looparound Test (#886)
This test checks whether the Packet Interface circuit pack c an send and receive
data correctly. It establishes a LAPD link from a Packet Inter face circuit pac k
back to the same Packet Interfac e circuit pac k and transmits and rec eives test
data over that testing link. While timing sig nals from the Packet Bus are used for
the data transfer, the data itself is loop ed around on the c ircuit pack at the
interface to the Packet Bus and d oes not get sent over the Packet Bus.
NOTE:
This test is not run if the Packet Interface circuit p ack is on a standb y SPE in
a syst em eq uipp ed w ith d upl icat ed SPEs. Howe v er, a f ailu r e of th e
Maint enanc e Lo opar ound test m ay ha ve ca used an SPE in terc hang e whi ch
would result in an alarm associated with the looparound failure error c ode
769 being reported against a Packet Interface c ircuit pack that is currently
on the standby SPE. If that is the case, and if all other Packet I nterface tests
associated with the test packet-interface CS long p ass, force the standby
SPE to go acti ve b y usin g th e SPE-SELECT s witc hes. Then e nter t he test
packet-interface CS command to run the Maintenance Loop around test to
make sure the problem has been cleared.

1137 ABORT Packet Interface circuit pack is in the out-of-service state so normal
maintenance tests will not run on that circuit pack.
1. Request a Packet Interface circuit pack reset using the reset
packet-interface CS command. Refer to the Packet Interface Reset Test
(#889) maintenance documentation for further action.
1139 ABORT The Packet Bus is alarmed
1. Try to retire the alarm associated with the Packet Bus. Refer to the Alarm
Log via the display alarms command. Refer to the maintenance
documentation for Packet Bus Maintenance for further action.
2. Retry the command when the alarm associated with the Packet Bus is
retired.
1335 ABORT Internal system error. The Packet Interface circuit pack is on the standb y SPE
and this test is not allowed to execute on a Packet Interface circuit pack on the
stand by SPE.
1. If you wish to run this test on the standby Packet Interface, you must first
make it active with reset system interchange. Be sure you understand
the implications explained in
Planned SPE Interchange
in Chapter 5,
‘‘Alarms, Errors, and Troubleshooting’’.
