Misconnected op tical fiber cab les may cause several circuit p acks to
alarm.
Packet bus faults can cau se several port circuit p acks to display red
LEDs.
If a circuit pack h as had at least five minutes to be initialized , and the red LED is
lit without an associated alarm in the A larm Log, the circuit p ack may not be in
communication with the system. This may also b e the case when a circ uit pack is
properly administered and present in its slot, but there is an error typ e 1 logged
against it. To determine if this is so, proceed as follows:
Issue the list configuration board UUCSS command. If the system does
not detect the circ uit pack, this command will return
identifier not assigned
or
no board.
If the documentation for the assoc iated maintenance objec t gives no
special instructions for thi s situation, go to the next step.
Check the Hardware Error Log for TONE-BD or TDM-BUS errors. Use the
test tdm and test tone-clock c ommands and use the ap propriate
maintenance proced ures to resolve any identified faults. If this d oes not
resolve the problem, go to the next step
Reseat the suspect circuit p ack.
!CAUTION:

This procedure can cause a partial or total service outage. Consult

thoroughly the documentation for the associated maintenance ob ject

before proceeding . Observe the precautions and procedures

described above.

Inspect the bac kplane connectors for b ent pins.
If the system seems to be functioning correctly, but the circuit p ack in
question will not communic ate with the system, replace the circ uit pack.
Expansion Interface Circuit Pack LEDs
The Expansion Interface (EI) TN570 circuit pack has the stand ard red, green and
yellow LEDs. The red and green LEDs have the traditional meaning , where red
indicates an alarm c ondition, and green ind icates testing in prog ress.
