DAT-LINE (Data Line Port)
The TN726 Data Line circuit pack has 8 ports, each of whic h supports an RS-232
interface to asynchronous Customer Premises Equip ment (CPE). Each of these
ports and the equip ment connected to it constitute a data line. For DT-LN-BD
(Data Line C ircu it Pac k) er rors, refer to "XXX-BD (Comm on Por t Circ uit Pa ck) ".
Check circuit pack-level errors first since the usability of the ports depend on the
health of the circuit pac k.
Data line ports are administered at the terminal with the add data-module
command. The data module type is

data-line

. The list data-module command
will list all administered data m odules in the system. See “PDATA-PT” for details
on how data lines are used as system p orts.
The TN750 Announcement circuit pac k also has one data line-type p ort on it.
This data line port is used for saving and restoring announc ements. For a
description of this feature and repair instructions for the TN750, refer to
“ANN-BD”.
NOTE:
If the tests for the data line port in q uestion pass, and user-repor ted
complaints persist, the re is probably an external p roblem. Test the
asynchronous data unit (ADU), following the procedures outlined in

User

Manual Z3A Asynchronous Data Unit

, 555-401-701. If the ADU appears to
be working prope rly, check the external wiring, and then check the
customer equipment.
