Processor) on Memory reads. If the parity c hecking logic fails, it will either
generate errors when it shouldn’t (a serious error c ondition that will probab le
resul t in SPE Dow n) or m iss er rors wh en pr esent (less seriou s).
The burst read circuit supports a special, block read mode used by the
Processor to quickly load p rogram instructions into the Processor c ache. Given a
single starting add ress over the Processor Bus, the Memory transfers four words
of data back to the Processor. This reduc es the time it takes for the Processor to
get instructions. Problems in this c ircuit may be due to the Memory c ircuit pack
or Proc essor and w ill re sult i n SPE Down.
If the PBX system is equipped with Hig h Reliability or Critical Reliability option
(i.e. with d upl icate d SPEs), and i f a fai lure of the ac tive Memor y circ uit p ack
causes a MAJOR on-board alarm, a SPE interchange will oc cur if the health of
the standby SPE permits the interchange.
