Congestion Query Test (#600)
This test determines the state of congestion on the Packet Gateway circuit pac k
based on the number of util ized buffers on the board . The test passes if the
Packet Gateway is operating normally, used b uffers are at a normal level. This
test fails if the Packet Gateway is in a conge sted state, i.e., utilized b uffers are
approaching exha ust or are exhausted.
The switch automatically throttles new calls to a cong ested Packet Gateway. New
outgoing calls are redi rected to another Packet Gateway if availab le. New
incoming calls are d enied. Normal call hand ling is resumed when the Packet
Gateway reports that it has recovered from congestion.
This test is non-destructive.
