The tape drive is specifie d and no tape is in the tap e drive or the tape is
write-protected.
No system access por t is available.
The MSS is in use by another user or by maintenance.
The specified devic e or SPE is not in service.
The standby SPE is specified and shad owing is not enabled .
A user cannot record announcemen ts while a save announcements command is
in progress. However, 15 channels are still av ailable for announcement pl ayback
(one is reserved for upload ing and download ing).
When MSS devices on both SPEs in a duplicated system are sp ecified, s ave
announcements will save data from the announcement b oard to the active and
standby devic es in parallel. The status of each save op eration is reported
separately. If one save operation fails, the save to the other d evice continues.
Thus, the data is not lost. In this case, announc ement date is inconsistent
between the two devices. In case of a failure due to hardware faults or
spon taneo us SPE in terc hang e, the user must m ake th e ann ounc emen t file s on
the two MSS devices consistent.
If a hardware failure occurs d uring a save announcements op eration, software
will log a hardware error. Maintenance software will invoke tests to d iagnose and
attempt to correct the p roblem. If corrective ac tion fails, an alarm is raised
against the ANNOUNCE maintenance object. Follow p rocedures recommended
under ANNOUNCE in Chapter 9, ‘‘ABRI-PORT (ASAI ISDN-BRI Port)’’.
If a good cop y of the announcement file is not availabl e on the MSS, the restore
announcements command can not b e executed until after a suc cessful save
announcements is completed. The announce ments on the board are still
accessible and usa b le.
