extension The extension number assigned to the p ort or other
maintenance object.
The number of digits in an extension is d etermined
by the system dial plan. The list and di splay
commands are useful in relating extension numbers,
maintenance objects, a nd other components.
repeat # 1-100 1 Used with test commands, the number of times a
test sequence is to be rep eated. The word repeat, or
simply the letter r, followed b y the number.
short
long Used with test commands, these qualifiers
determine either the long or short test se quence run
for this maintenance object. The test sequence run
varies for each maintenance ob ject.
!CAUTION:
For some maintenance objects, the lon g sequence is destruc tive, that is, disruptive to call service.
The short sequence is always non-destruc tive.
clear Used with test commands, this s pecifies that the test
sequence is to be rep eated until any active alarms
against the maintenance obj ect is cleared by the
passing of tests or until any test in the seq uence
fails.
If no such alarms are active, the seq uence is run
once. The long clear combination effec ts a clearing
of all alarms against the maintenance ob ject if no
errors are encountered. The short clear comb ination
clears only alarms pertinent to the tests i n the short
sequence.
!CAUTION:
If all tests pass, the long clear comb ination clears all error counters. If firmware c ounters are cleared while actual p roblem exists, customer service may d egrade due to c alls being routed over faulty c omponents.
