Replacing the TAPE Circuit PackFor a Simplex SPE:
a. Enter busyout host-adapter. The Host Adapter should be "busied out" to
prevent other applicat ions from trying to access the tap e or the disk. The
Tape circuit pack supp lies +12V to the Disk circuit pac k so when it is
removed, the Disk circuit p ack will also go out of servic e.
b. Replace the Tape circuit pac k and insert the tape c artridge into the new
Tape circuit pack.
c. Issue the reset host-adapter command. This may take up to 3 minutes to
complete since it waits for the ta pe to retension.
d. Issue the release host-adapter command .
e. Issue the status spe command and c heck that the status screen ind icates
that the tape and disk are now in s ervice.
For a Duplicated SPE:
a. See ‘‘Repl acin g SPE Cir cuit Packs ’’ in Chapter 5.
b. After the standby SPE is powered up and fully refreshed, test the standby
tape using the test tape long command.
