After cabling c hanges are made and verified, p ower must be restored to the port
network. Circuit packs in c arriers that are not part of the shortened bus are not
inserted. As a result, these circ uit packs are alarmed. Ig nore these alarms for
now. All alarms should be resolved when the c abinet is restored to its orig inal
configuration.
Procedure 4 is organized into two p arts. Part 1 attempts to clear the TDM Bus
fault by repl a cing all the bus cabling and termi nators w ithin a port-n etwork . Part 2
attempts to isolate the fault to a par ticular carrier by extend ing the TDM Bus from
the control carrier to add itional carriers one at a time.

Power must be removed from the entire port network b efore any cables or

terminators are removed. Failure to follow this proced ure can cause

damage to circ uit packs and p ower supplies, and c an be hazardous to the

technician.

not available, go to Part 2 of this proc edure.
