Alarms against comp onents relevant to shadowing
A mismatch between the hardware c onfigurations of the active and
standby SPEs
Incomplete initialization of the st andby after a restart
When memory shadowing is not on, system soft ware checks every 30 sec onds to
see if the above conditio ns are gone, allowing it to restore shadowi ng. Examine
the Hardware Error Log for any of the following indic ations.
STBY-SPE Error 257
This usually represents inhibiting of memory shadowing by the stand by SPE. This
can occur if the stand by SPE is undergoing any level of restart or if the standby
PKT-INT circuit pack is being reset. Typical ly this condition clears q uickly. In the
case that t he st andb y SPE ha s rest arted , the re sh ould be an STBY-SPE er ror 51 4
logged. If the 257 error p ersists with handshake staying up , look for problems
with the standby PKT-INT board (red LED). It may be nec essary to reset the
standby PKT-INT board (reset packet-interface) to clear the inhibiting of
shadowing. See “PKT-INT”.
STBY-SPE Error 260
This in dic ates that t he mec han ism in the a ctiv e SPE’s Du plic ati on Int erfa ce c ircu it
pack to turn on shadowi ng has somehow failed. When this occ urs, busyout the
standby SPE and run test dup long. Follow instructions for DUPINT.
STBY-SPE Error 1537
This error indicates a component m ismatch between the act ive and standby
SPEs. Use list config control to determine what components are in the PPN
carriers A and B. Correct any m ismatches. Use the lock-and -power-down
method describ ed in Chapter 5 to replac e circuit pac ks.
