For TN574 DS1 Converter circuit packs, this test is exec uted by sending digital
data through each timeslot of eve ry DS1 facility channel. Two different test
patterns are used, these are hexad ecimal values 55 and AA.
For TN1654 DS1 Converter circuit packs, this test has b een enhanced to provid e
error codes that point to the exac t fault. Rather than simply reporting a failure of
the connectivity test, the TN1654 test spec ifically identifies the two DS1 faci lities
that are cross-connected at the near and far ends of the DS1 conver ter complex.
In addition, a fault cod e will indicate the cond ition of not being abl e to loop-up
the far-end as required to run the test d ue to the packet DS1 facility being down.
The TN1654 connectivity test sends dig ital data through only one timeslot.
Instead of looping b ack the facility to itself, the TN1654 version of the test
loops-up the other three facilities . If the test pattern comes bac k, the firmware
fails the test due to an incorrect connection between DS1 facilities. It should be
noted that this test will pass and give no indication of problems if the non-pac ket
facilities are down.
On a Standard and High Reliability System (no PNC duplication), this test can
only b e exe cuted at th e end -poi nt whi ch is clos er to th e SPE rela tive t o the
neighbor DS1 CONV circuit pack because of its impacts on the system control
links. In addition, for TN574 DS1 CONV boards, the completion of the tes t will be
delayed in this conf iguration to wait for the recovery of the system control links.
On a Critical Reliability System (PNC Duplication), test c an be executed at any
DS1 CONV circuit pack.

1. Retry the command at 1-minute intervals a maximum of 3 times.
2316 ABORT Fiber link is not administered. Administer the DS1 CONV fiber link via the add
fiber-link command.
2321 ABORT DS1 CONV circuit pack is not busied out. Busyout the DS1 CONV circuit pack
via the busyout board command.
2332 ABORT The test was aborted because it cannot be run at the far-end with this system
configuration (PNC simpl ex) when there is only one DS1-FAC available (the li nk
would be los t and n o test r esults would be see n at the SPE). Run th e test a t the
other end of the DS1C comp lex.
