8
Parameters
All maintenance objects i ncluded in the sp ecified hardware g roup are tested,
including all circuit packs and p orts. When a cabinet or larger entity is specified,
environmental MOs are tested (see test environment).
Add Station If the add station comman d is entered for an untranslated port at the
same time as it is being tested by the test hardware-g roup command
with the all-ports option, the req uest to add station will fail and the
following message will be displayed:
Object in use; please try later
Trunk
Administration If an attempt is made to add an unadministered trunk p ort to a trunk
group at the same time as it is b eing tested bec ause of the test
hardware-group c ommand with the all-ports op tion, the request will
fail and the following message will be displayed:
Object in use; please try later
Save Translation If the test hardware-group c ommand is issued with the all-p orts
option when a translation save operation is active, some
unadministered ports ma y not be tested. All other hard ware will be
tested normally.
Hardware
Alarms When a hardware error is detected by the test hardware-g roup
command the hardware g oes through the standard escalation
strategy. Alarms will be raised on hardware that manifest hard errors.
This alarming strategy is the same, regar dless of whether the ports
are translated or not.
System
Interaction The performance of test hard ware-group is affec ted by call
processing traffic , administration activity, c hoice of the short or long
option, whether the all-ports op tion was chosen, whether the
spe-interchange op tion was chosen, and other demand maintenance
activity.
Scheduled and
Period ic
Maintenance
When a test hardware-group command is entered, all activity related
to scheduled b ackground maintenanc e, periodic background
maintenance, and data aud its is suspended for the duration of the
execution of the test hardware-g roup command. When a test
hardware-group c ommand is canceled or when the test
hardware-group c ommand completes, a ll suspended p eriodic,
scheduled, and data audits bac kground maintenance activity will be
restarted where it left off.
Demand Testing
of SPE
Components
When a test hardware-group c ommand is entered with the
SPE-inte rcha nge o pti on, d emand tes ts of SPE c omp onen ts may
abort while the interchang e is in progress.
