Replacing the Fan Power Filter
The fan power filter (ED-1E554-30) is a metal box located behind the fans on the
right-hand cab le trough as you face the rear of the cab inet. It is not present with
nonvariable-speed fan assemblies.
!CAUTION:
The fan power filter can be replaced without powering down the cabinet. To
avoid damage, you must us e the following steps in the order shown. N ote
that the J2F/P2F connectors on the power filter must not be c onnected
whenever connecting or d isconnecting the J2/P2 c onnectors on the fan
assembly.
1. Access the power filter throug h the rear cabinet doors.
2.
Connect the grounding wrist strap to yourself and the c abinet.
The fan
alarm circuit can b e damaged by ESD.
!CAUTION:
Failure to disconnect the J2F connec tor on the filter before the J2
connector on the fan assemb ly can damage the fan alarm c ircuits.
3. Disconnect cab inet local cable c onnector J2F from the P2F connector on
top of the power filter.
4. Disconnect cab le connector J2 from the P2 connector on the fan
assembly.
5. Loosen the power filter mounting sc rews using a 5/16” nut driver and
remove the filter.
!CAUTION:
Failure to connect the J2 connec tor on the fan assembly can
damage the fan alarm c ircuits.
6. Connect the J2 cable c onnector of the replacement p ower filter to the P2
connector on the fan assemb ly.
7. Mount the new power filter on the screws and tighten.
8. Connect cabinet loc al cable connec tor J2F to the P2F connector on the
top of the power filter.
9. The fans should start rotating after a 4 second delay.
