Many trunk problems are caused by incorrect setting s of parameters on the
trunk group administra tion form. Settings must be comp atible with the local
environment and with parameter setting s on the far-end. Refer to

Notes section of that book shows the c orrect settings for administrab le
timers and other parameters on a c ountry-by-country ba sis.
A DS1 DIOD trunk provides a link for dig itized voice or d ata communications
between the system and a central offic e switch. There are two types of DS1
interfaces:
■24 DS0 channels on a 1.544 Mbps link
■31 DS0 channels + 1 framing c hannel on a 2.048 Mbps link
■32-channel mode is supp orted only on TN464 circuit p acks and on G3r V2
systems.
The DS1-DIOD maintenance object monitors and maintains a DIOD trunk port on
a TN464 UDS1 Interface circuit pac k. See "UDS1-BD (UDS1 Interface Circuit
Pack)" in this chapter for more information ab out this circuit pac k. The DS1 circuit
pack suppor ts low level CO trunk signaling interfac es for both ground-start and
loop-start trunks. This maintenance strateg y covers the in-line errors log,
initialization tests, periodic tests, scheduled tests, d emand tests, and alarm
resolution and escalation.
