Some carriers may contain two power sup plies, the 644A and the 645B, whic h
together supply the req uired voltages to the carrier. Oth er carriers may contain
one 649A power supply located on the right sid e of the carrier. In these systems,
an additional 649A is loca ted on the right of the optional switc h node carriers.
Loss of the 645B Carrier Port Power Supply in the active PPN control carrier
causes the management terminal log in to drop. In a system with dup licated SPEs
CARR-POW alarms do not cause an interchange, but loss of p ower to PROC,
MEM-BD , SW-CTL, SYSAM, an d PKT-I NT main tenan ce ob jec ts (po wered from
the left side of the active c ontrol carrier) reduces the SPE state of health, possibly
causing an interchang e. Loss of power on the right sid e of the active control
carrier causes the HOST-ADAP TER, DISK, and TAPE maintenance objects to fail,
these failu res do not c ause a n SPE inte rchan ge.
