NOTE:
For descriptions of result cod es for this test refer to:
SNC-BD when the circuit pack tested is a Switch Node Clock (c ircuit pack
slots 10 or 12).
SNI-BD when the circuit pack tested is a Switch Node Interface (c ircuit
pack slots 2-9 or 13-20).
This test is run via the test board short or test board long command for SNI
circuit packs or SNC circ uit packs.
For SNI circuit packs, this test queries the SNI for SNCs in the same switch node
carrier, SNI peers, DS1Cs, and EI or SNI neighbors that the SNI c an
communicate with and c ompares this data to the adm inistered data.
For SNC circuit packs, this test queries the SNC for SNCs and SNIs in the same
switch node carrier that the SNC ca n communicate with and c ompares this data
to the administered data.
Failures of this test cause entries in the error and alarm log s against Switch Node
Configuration (SN-CONF) with the board location of the SNI or SNC.
Incorrectly Connected Administered Fibers
Some physically connecte d fibers that do not matc h fiber administration can
cause port network prob lems that are not detected and alarmed by PNC tests.
The symptoms will usually be many phone calls not working correc tly, and port
network component alarms b ecause of translation mismatches.
This test is unable to detect the case wh ere an SNI is connected to the same type
of board (EI or SNI) as administered but located in a different cab inet but the
same carrier and same slot as the ad ministered fiber endpoi nt. The administered
fiber endpoint c an be viewed with the list fiber-link command . This test can only
detect if the fiber end point connected to the SNI is in a different carrier, slot
location than the administered f iber endpoint.
Incorrectly Connected Administered SNI-EI Fibers
If the SNI is connected to the same typ e of fiber endpoint as the ad ministered
fiber endpoint, b ut the location is the same as administered except for the
cabinet, many phone c alls will not work correctly; some p hone calls will not go
through and some phone c alls will ring the wrong phone.
The test led c ommand can be used in this case to check c onnectivity.
1. Run the test led port-network command on each adm inistered port
network and verify that the LEDs on the correct p ort network are lit.
2. If they are not lit, check that the fib er connections to the port n etwork are
consistent with the administered fi bers (list fiber-link) that does not light
the LEDs as expected.
