DIG-LINE (Digital Line)
DIG-LINE maintenance monitors and tests por ts on digital line circ uit packs and
the hardware connected to those ports for lines administered as a digital station.
These include stations with just a digita l voice terminal and stations with a dig ital
voice terminal and a linked data module. Stand-alone d ata modules, and da ta
adaptors in stand-alone mod e, are covered by the PDMODULE and TDMODULE
maintenance objects. Circ uit pack-level maintenanc e is covered by “ DIG-BD”
whose strat egy is desc rib ed in the "XXX-BD (Comm on Port Circ uit Pac k)" sec tion .
Only the TN754B or TN2136 should be used in out-of-b uilding app lications. For
important information perta ining to protection required for out-of-building d igital

Installation and Test for Multi-Carrier Cabinets

.
Only 2-wire Italtel Digital Telephone Models 1 and 2 (IDT1/2) or DAs can d irectly
connect to a TN2136. Lucent DCP (4-wire) dig ital voice terminals and d ata
modules can connec t to these circuit pac ks via Italtel’s 2/4-wire adapter. DAs
can operate in either of two mod es which are covered by different MOs:
Digital line maintenance interac ts with digital line circ uit pack (DIG-BD)
maintenance, and results of DIG-LINE testing can b e affected by the health of the
digital line circ uit pack. Keep this in mind when investigating d igital line
problems.
There are instances where the service state of a station is mentioned . It is helpful
to understand what is meant by the different service states that may exist. The
different service states which ap ply to digital line station are explained as follows:
MO Name (in
Alarm Log) Alarm Level Initial Command to Run1
1. UU is the universal cabinet number (1 for PPN, 2 -44 for EPNs). C is the carrier designation
(A, B, C, D, or E). SS is the number of the slot in which the circuit pack resides (01 to 21).
pp is the two digit port number (01, 02, ...).
