set expansion-interface command when investig ating an EPN
Tone-Clock.) If the interchange attempt fails d ue to other errors,
resolve those problems first.
4. Interchange the Tone-Clock circuit pac ks using the set tone-clock
PC command. If the command succeeds, th e interchange which
previously failed has been ac complished and the problem has
been satisfactorily resolved . If it fails, proceed to th e next step. (You
may want to proceed in any c ase to definitively test all relevant
components.)
5. Interchange the t/c selec tor using set expansion-interface if
investigating an EPN. If errors prevent this interchang e, resolve
them first.
6. Attempt again to interchang e Tone-Clocks with the set tone-clock
PC command.
If th e Tone-Clock interchange failed for both t/c selectors:
Replace the standby Tone-Clock circ uit pack which c ould
not be interchanged into and return to this step. (See
How to Replace the Tone-Clock Circuit Pack
.) Test the new circuit
pack as follows:
a. Execute the set tone-clock PC command .
b. Execute a set expansion-interfac e, if this is an EPN
Tone-Clock.
c. Execute the set tone-clock PC command again.
If these commands succ essfully complete, the p roblem has
been resolved.
If th ese commands succ essfully complete, the p roblem has
been resolved.
If th e Tone-Clock circuit packs succ essfully interchange
when o ne EXP-IN TF is ac tive , bu t not w hen th e oth er one is:
The t/c-selector circuit p ack on the failing side is suspect.
a. Replace the A carrier DUPINT or EXP-INTF board that is
active when the Tone-Clock interchange fails. (Follow
proc edu res in "Repla cing SPE Circ uit Pa cks" i n Chap ter 5 for
the DUPINT circuit pack; for the Expansion Interfac e, see
‘‘EXP-IN TF (Expa nsion Inter fac e Circ uit Pa ck) ’’.)
b. Make sure the new t/c selector is active and execute the set
tone-clock PC command.
If b oth Tone-Clocks can be interchang ed into, and
interchanges succ eed when either t/c selecto r is active, the
problem has been resolved .
