!CAUTION:

The TN2207 circuit pack is the only p ack allowing connec tion of an ESM to

the DEFINITY ECS switch.

Troubleshooting
Before troubleshooting any prob lems associated with the DEFINITY MMCH,
always be sure that the endpoint i s operating correct ly (audio, video, and d ata)
by making point-to-p oint test calls. If possib le, make the test calls over the
network to test the connectivity and routing of network calls from the end point.
This eliminates problems such as d isconnected aud io or video cables and
network troubles.
64 Kbps Calls Terminate but Far End Receives56 Kbps Indication
Description
Some 2x64 Kbps conferences o n the DEFINITY MMCH do not establish because
of framing, audio, or vid eo problems.
For calls that are routed in the network through a Luc ent Technologies/LEC
interface, the originating equipment may launch a 6 4 Kbps call attemp t, and the
far end receives either a 56 Kbp s or 64 Kbps indication . If the far end receives a
64 Kbps indic ation, the call may have used 56 Kb ps facilities. If so, the c all may
exhibit any of the following c onditions:
No handshaking in one direc tion or both (call di sconnects after timeouts)
Call connects, but aud io or video is corrup ted (audio noise or no video)
Call succeeds without d isruption (this is the least likely since one end point
must be aware that the call is really 56 Kb ps to connect)
If any of the above conditi ons occur, then 64 Kbp s calls from the site are
blocked.
Solution
Administer the conference for c onnection at 56 Kbp s.
1. Port B Y-cable connector to a TN787
Multimedia Interface (MMI) circuit pack
2. Port A Y-cable connector to a TN2207 PRI
circuit pack
3. 25-pair Y-cable
4. 356A adapter
5. D8W cord connected to 356A
adapter port 1
6. Expansion Service Mod ule (ESM)
7. Port B on compat ible primary rate
interface (PRI) card
