The SPE Select Switch MO monitors the position of the SPE Select switches
located on the front of each UN33 0B Duplication Interfac e board. Each switch
may be in one of three possible positions: Auto, A selected , B selected. Both
switches, one on the active Dup lication Interface b oard and one on the standb y,
should be set to the same d esignation. The switches control sele ction of the
acti ve SPE and cau se al arms a s fol lows:
If bo th swi tch es are in the AUTO p osit ion, t he SPE th at is t he hea lthi est, a s
determined by the state-of-health bits on the boards, is selected as active.
No alarm is raised.
If one SPE Selec t swit ch i s in th e AUTO posi tion a nd on e sel ecti ng ei ther A
or B carrier as active, or one switch selects A and the other selects B, the
boards default to hand ling the selection of whic h carrier is active as if b oth
switches were in the AUTO position. A WARNING alarm appears after one
hour. The alarm is resolved 5 minutes after the switches are return ed to
identical positions.
If both switches select either A carrier or B carrier active, then the
Duplication Interface b oards will force that carrier ac tive (irrespective of
state-of-health) and the red Overrid e LED is lit. A MAJOR alarm is raised
by SPE-SEL E if the switc hes remai n in th ese p osit ions f or mor e than 6
hours. The alarm is resolved within 5 minutes of the switches being
returned to AUTO.
