Installing a DS1 Facility
Installing a DS1 facility is done in the followi ng sequence:
1. Connect the facility.
2. Check the fiber link numbe r via the list fibers command. Ad minister the
DS1 facility via the change fiber-link command. Cha nge the Facility
Installed field from "no" to "yes" for the facility that is being installed.
3. Busyout the DS1 CONV circuit pack via the busyout board c ommand.
4. Run the DS1 Facilities Connectivity test #790 via the test board UUCSS
long command to make sure that the faciliti es are connected c orrectly.
5. Release the DS1 CON V circuit pack via the release board command .
Removing a DS1 Facility
Removing a DS1 facility is service disrup ting in any system config uration
(because the DS1 facility ad ministration is similar on both sides of the PNC on
Critical Reliability Systems).
This procedure is destructive.
1. Busyout the DS1 facility via the busyout ds1-facility command .
2. Check the fiber link numbe r via the list fibers command. De-ad minister
the DS1 facility via the change fiber-link command. Chang e the Facility
Installed field from "yes" to "no" for the facility that is being removed.
3. Disconnect the DS1 facility (or fac ilities in Critical Reliability System
configuration).
DS1 Interface Options
The following DS1 Interface options must b e set with fiber link administration. To
set the values, check the numb er of the fiber link via the list fibers command .
Execute the change fiber-link command and set the following fiel ds:
Facility Installed
This field determines if the DS1 facility is installed . The field is set to
yes
if the
facility is installed.
For TN574 DS1 CONV boards, facility A must be installed b efore the others.
Facilities B, C and D can then be ins talled in any order desired si nce the primary
facility can reside on any of the four facilities.
For TN1654 DS1 CONV boards, facility A must be installed first, then B, then C or
D. This is required since the pri mary facility can only resid e on facilities A or B.
