Control LAN Circuit Pack

The TN799 Control LAN (CLAN) packet port ci rcuit pack provid es TCP/IP
connection to adjunc ts applications suc h as CMS, Intuity, and DCS Networking.
The CLAN circuit pack has 1 10b aseT Ethernet connection and up to 16 DS0
physical interfaces for PPP connections. Two integrated modems provide remote
PPP connectivity over analog facilities. Putting multip le CLAN circuit p acks into a
system gives additional TCP/IP capacity. In addition to the TCP/IP functionality,
CLAN extends the ISDN capab ilities for csi models by p roviding Packet b us
access.
A remo te soc ket c ont rol lin k (RSCL ) link s the C LAN a nd th e SPE to p ass c all
control and other managemen t information. Since one link serves all the port s on
the circuit pac k, maintenance of the RSCL is part of the CLAN circ uit pack
maintenance.
Control LAN Congestion Controls
The switch activates cong estion controls on CLAN when it detec ts buffers
exceeding the threshold . The switch releases the congestion c ontrols when the
CLAN reports that its buffer level has returned to normal levels.
