Adjuncts can d irectly connect to one of the external ports on the Packet Gateway
circuit pack us ing a null modem or limited- distance modem. This is the prefer red
method for connecting adjuncts located near the switch. Similar config urations
are used to connect to CMS, Message Server, and ISDN Gateway.
The RS-423 interface on the Packet Gateway circuit pac k can be switched via
administered connec tion to any DCP Mode 2 digital end point on the switching
network. Similar configurations are used to c onnect to CMS, Message Server,
and ISDN Gateway. In this configuration, the BX.25 link is switche d over the TDM
bus to a DS1 port and over a DS1 facility to another G3r switch. The Packet
Gateway can use only DMI Mode 1 on the TDM b us.
DCS systems that use ISDN-PRI signaling use a TN464 Universal DS1 circuit
pack and d o not require a Packet Gateway.
Link-Associated Maintenance Objects
Each link is made up of a c hain of several different maintenance ob jects. The list
sys-link and status sys-link command s can be used to id entify the specific
components that make up a specific link. All X.25 links use the followi ng MOs:
—PKT-INT
The PPN PKT- BUS
The PKT-BUS of the port network housing the packet gateway
—PGATE-BD
—PGATE-PT
Certain configurations may also use some of the following:
— TDM-BUS
—DS1-BD
— UDS1-BD
—TIE-DS1
— ISDN-LNK
— ISDN-TRK
When investigating link prob lems, first resolve any problems existing at higher
levels such as PKT-INT and PKT-BUS, and then proceed to prob lems at lower
levels such as ISDN-TRK.
