When it begins to affect service, error typ e 3843 escalates to error type
1296.
s. This error is reported when the receive b uffers for the packet interface
overflow. Frequent occurrence of this error may b e indicative of a
congested c ircuit pack. See descr iption of ‘‘Receive FIFO Overflow Error
Counter Test.’’

and Error Codes
When inspecting errors in the system and deciding which ones to address,
always investigate errors in the order they are p resented in the table below.
Circuit Pack Restart Test (#252)
This destructive test is used to reset the c ircuit pack. This test is not p art of either
short or long demand test se quence and is executed only on detection of PPCPU
errors. The circuit pack is reset via the SAKI Sanity Test (#53).
Control Channel Loop-Around Test (#52)
This test queries the circuit p ack for its circuit p ack code and vintage and verifies
its records.
This test is non-destructive.
