display fiber-link commands to c heck the values for this DS1
facility. Contact T1 Network Service to check the mod es used by
the network. See the above sections, “Line Co ding” and “Framing
Mode” for details on how thes e options apply to the TN574 and
TN1654 DS1 CONV boards.
3. For TN574 boards and TN1654 boards in T1 mode, c heck line
equalization settings as d escribed in the ab ove section, ‘‘DS1
CONV-1 and DS1 CONV-2 Line Compensation.’’
4. Enter display errors and follow the associated repair p rocedures
for any EXP-INTF, and SNI-BD errors for the Fiber Endpoints. Enter
display errors and follow the associated repair procedures for any
FIBER-LK errors for this fiber link.
5. If the problem still persists, rep lace this DS1 CONV circuit pac k.
6. If the problem still persists, rep lace the DS1 CONV circuit pac k at
the other end of the DS1 CONV Complex.
f. Loss of Frame Alignment (LFA) Alarm, the RED alarm: This alarm indicates
that the DS1 interface associated with the DS1 facility c annot frame up on
the received data.
For the following repair proced ure, refer to Figure 9-28 and the diagrams
in the related test descrip tions.
1. If the network is used instead of priv ate T1 lines, check that the DS1
facility and the network are using th e same line coding. For TN574
boards and TN1654 boards in T1 mode, also verify that the Framing
Mode used is the same. For TN1654 boards, verify t hat the two
boards in the DS1 CONV Complex are using the same bit rate. Us e
list fibers and display fiber-link commands to c heck the values
for this DS1 facility. Contact T1 Network Service to verify the modes
set for the network. See the above sections, “L ine Coding”,
“Framing Mode” and “Bit Rate” for details on how these op tions
apply to the TN574 and TN1654 DS1 CONV boards
2. Run the Near-end External Loopback tes t #799 via the test
ds1-facility UUCSSf external-loopback command by setting up a
loopback at CPE side of CSU towards DS1 CONV circuit pac k
shown as loopback p oint LB 1 in the test descript ion diagram. If the
test fails, replace connec tors and the cables b etween CSU and the
DS1 CONV circuit pack.
3. If the test passes, run the Near-end External Loop back test #799
via the test ds1-facility UUCSSf external-loopback command b y
setting up a loopb ack at DS1 facility side of CSU towards the DS1
CONV circuit pack shown as loopback point LB 2 in the test
description di agram. If the test fails, replace the CSU.
4. If the test #799 passes, run the Far-end Internal Loop back test
#797 via the test ds1-facility UUCSSf long command. If th e test
#797 passes, go to step 6. If th e test fails, then run the Near-end
