Clear Error Counters (#270)
The ports on the Maintenance/Test circuit pac k continually run self-tests,
whenever the port is idle. The Angel u ses a counter so that the Backg round
Maintenance Failure message is only sent up link once (this keeps a failed
port /cir cuit pac k fro m floo ding the SPE w ith a strin g of m essag es) . Many circ uit
packs have counters in the Angel firmware. These counters are used so that
Control Channel Message Set (CCMS) messages are not continuously sent
uplink. Using this method, th e message will be sent once , when the counter
reaches some preset threshold, and then not sent again until the counter is
cleared. This test is used to cle ar the counter, so that if the port c ontinues to fail
duri ng or after SPE-dem and ed te sting , the Ange l will send a mes sage to ind ica te
that fact.
This test is only used to send a message to th e Angel on the Maintenance/Test
Circuit Pack. Therefore, this test should never abort or fa il.
