1. Check the error log via display errors for other SNI circ uit packs
with the 257 SNI-BD error. If other SNI circuit packs in the same
switch node carrier have e rror 257, then replace the active SNC.
2. Replace this SNI.
3. Replace the active SNC in the same switch nod e carrier.
4. Enter display errors and if this error is still in the error log, follow
normal escalation proced ures.
f. This error indicates that the SNI cannot communic ate with the DS1C.
1. Perform the Fiber Fault Isolation Procedure describ ed in Chapter 5.
g. This error indicates a failure communic ating synchronization c ontrol data
with the active SNC.
Look at all of the SNI-BD errors in the log via display errors and display
alarms to determine whether to follow proc edure 1 or procedu re 2. See
the table below which lists pairs of SNIs that are considered to b e
adjacent. Use Procedure 2 if either of the following two condition s is
present:
At least one pair of adjacent SNIs in this c arrier has Error 769 with
an off-board alarm logg ed against both SNIs in the p air.
The ac tive SNC in this carrier has error 257.
If neither of the above is true, follow Procedure 1.
Procedure 1 (suspect TPN link or clock generation out of lock
problem):
1. Enter display alarms and display errors and follow the
procedures for any on-b oard SNI-BD error and alarm entries.
2. If more than one SNI circuit pack in the same switch node carrier
has SNI-BD error 769 with an off board alarm, replac e the active
SNC in the same carrier.
3. Replace this SNI.
