LED Interpretation
If a maintenance object in the system begins to fail some of the p eriodic tests,
the system automatically generates an alar m. This alarm indicates to
maintenance personnel that ac tion is required to restore the system to a normal
condition. The system identifies three levels of alarms:
Major Alarms Failures that cause critical degradation of servic e and
require immediate attention.
Minor Alarms Failures that cause some degr adation of service, but d o
not render a crucial p ortion of the system inoperab le. This condition
requires action, but its c onsequences are not immed iate. Problems might
be impairing servic e to a few trunks or stations or interfering wit h one
feature across the entire system.
Warn ing Al arm s Failures that cause no significant degradation of
service or failures in equipmen t external to the system. Warning alarms
are not reported to the attendant c onsole or INADS.
Alarms are communicated to the system users and technic ians by entries in the
Alarm Log and the lighti ng of LEDs located on the attend ant console, on all
circuit packs i n the switch cabinets, and , optionally, on customer-desig nated
voice terminals.

Terminal Alarm Notification

Terminal Alarm Notification is an optional feature which d isplays several types of
alarms on voice terminals with adm inistered feature buttons or the attend ant
console. A maximum of ten dig ital and/or hybrid voic e terminals may be used .
When an alarm occurs, the green status LED assoc iated with the assigned
