To return the standby SPE to service, see the following section on ‘‘Bringing the
SPE Back into Service’’.
NOTE:
The physical connection of the terminal to the STANDBY connector while
the SPE is lock ed s tand by wi th th e SPE-Sele ct sw itc hes p reven ts the
Standby Maintenance Monitor (SMM) from running. A ny reboot command
to the standby while it is in the loc ked state will abort.
Using the SPE-Down Interface
When one of the above prompts app ear, you may enter Spe-down interfac e
commands. These are executed b y the Low-level Maintenance Monitor (LMM),
which is firmware resident on the p rocessor board for c ontrolling initialization and
recovery actions, and p rocessor and memory d iagnostics.

access by the local MT, and this message will be displayed:
When the call is completed or dropped, the p rompt will return. Note that the

circuit pack.
A limited set of command s is available to the SPE-down interface, as follows.
