Translation Date Section
This section at the top of pag e 2 displays information related to the translation
files as stored in memory and the MSS.
Update-state The status of the software field-update (“ patch”) file:
none in memory
No software update has been ap plied to memory.
immediate partially ap plied
A soft w a re update f a iled in t h e process o f be ing applie d. Check
the validity of the update file that was sent. Check also the
hardware error log for tape errors, and follow standard
maintenance proced ures.
all immediate applied deferred pending
A valid update file was rec eived by the switc h, and all update
files marked for immediate ap plication were app lied. This
message indicates that ther e are additional files in the up date
file whose application has b een deferred until a system rese t of
a required level takes p lace.
deferred partially applied
Application of the d eferred files of a software upd ate was
attempted and failed . Check the validity of the up date file that
was sent. Check also the hardware error log for tape errors, and
follow standard maintenanc e procedures.
entirely applied to memory
All files in a software update have been successfully ap plied.
Memory
Resident Date and time marked on the tap e or disk when translation data was
last read from the MSS into memory. This is stored in SPE memory
and is not modified b y changes to translation d ata. A save translation
will update this date. If “ Date invalid” is d isplayed, the timestamp
does not contain the expec ted information.
Tape Resident The last date and time that translation data was saved to tape. This
date is read from tape and appears blan k if the tape is not installed.

Disk Resident The last date and time that translation data was saved to disk. This
date is read from disk and appears blan k if the disk is not installed.
